In October 23rd, the annual conference of Key Laboratory of molecular biology/the seminar on development of biological sciences of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology were held successfully in the Mingde Hall of Wutongyu academic exchange center. Professor Jianguo Chen, vice president of Huazhong University of science and technology, attended the meeting. Professor Zihe Rao, former president of Chinese society of Biophysics / Academician of Tsinghua University, Professor Tao Xu, vice president of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences/ president of Chinese society of Biophysics / director of Guangzhou Bioisland laboratory, Professor Ruiming Xu, director of Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Baoliang Song, president of Wuhan College of Life Sciences, Professor Youming Lu, President of School of basic medicine, Huazhong University of science and technology Xianen Zhang, researcher of Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mian Long, researcher of Institute of mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ming Li, researcher of Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Wei Liu, Medical College of Zhejiang University, Professor Yi Xiao, Professor Jianfeng Liu, Professor Cong Ma, Professor Yunjun Yan, Professor Guangyuan He and Professor Yu Xue attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Professor Jianfeng Liu, director of Key Laboratory of molecular biophysics, Ministry of education.

Vice President Jianguo Chen delivered a welcome speech, on behalf of the University, welcomed the participating experts to attend the meeting, and presented the appointment letter of honorary director of the academic committee of Key Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics to Academician Zihe Rao.
Academician Zihe Rao, Academician Tao Xu, Professor Ruiming Xu, Professor Baoliang Song and Professor Youming Lu delivered excellent academic reports. During the epidemic period, Professor Zihe Rao concentrated his team efforts to analyze the structure of sars-cov-2 replication and transcription complex in a few months, and published a series of papers in nature, science and other journals, achieved world-famous achievements. Academician Tao Xu's team has made breakthroughs in software and hardware of super-resolution photoelectric correlation imaging system. Professor Ruiming Xu introduced the mechanism of Drosha enzyme processing PRI miRNA. Professor Baoliang Song gave a report entitled diet and cholesterol metabolism. Professor Youming Lu introduced the structure and signal transduction of key synaptic proteins encoding memory. In addition, Prof. Jianfeng Liu, Prof. Cong Ma and Prof. Yu Xue respectively reported the latest research results, and conducted in-depth discussion with experts attending the meeting.

In the second stage of the seminar, the experts discussed the construction and development of the Key Laboratory of molecular biophysics of the Ministry of education and the discipline of biological science. They put forward a plan to jointly apply for the National Key Laboratory by the relevant disciplines of the whole university, and put forward practical suggestions on the purchase of freezing electron microscope. Professor Ruiming Xu is willing to provide long-term technical support for the training of cryoelectron microscope professionals and instrument maintenance in our university.
After the seminar, a signing ceremony was held between the key laboratory and Guangzhou Bioisland laboratory. Professor Jianfeng Liu, director of the Key Laboratory of molecular biophysics, Ministry of education, and Li Zhonghua, Secretary of Guangzhou Bioisland laboratory, respectively signed the agreement and took a group photo with the participating experts.
