Gynaecological cancer, uterine and ovarian, and female infertility where conditions such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis can be predisposing factors are an areas of important research. Uterine cancer levels are increasing, and there are data suggesting a link between PCOS patients and uterine cancer. Ovarian cancer remains is often diagnosed at a late stage, with chemotherapeutic options remaining limited. We focus on developing novel biomarkers in these diseases for use as potential diagnostic markers. We aim to understand their regulation at the epigenetic and transcriptional level, with a view to targeting the regulation of these markers, as well as developing novel therapeutic agents. Finally we use biophysical approaches to complement traditional molecular and cell biology approaches to understanding the function of cell surface markers.
